As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

My Thoughts:

I am not going to lie...when I first saw this book I was very scared to pick it up and start reading it because the cover looked very scary...:/  I really did not know what to expect with the book.  So I did one of the worse things in my book imaginable....I looked up the trailer.

So going into this story, not having read any reviews about it only have had watched the trailer, I was scared out of my mind....that night I even had nightmares.  Now I think it was totally ridiculous.

This book was a very good book.  It was very different then anything that I have read in a really long time.  It really shows that everything is not what it seems.  The cover of the book is very creepy yet pretty.  I love the antique feel it has.

Okay so on with the book.  When I first started to read the book I thought about not reading it because I didn't know exactly what was going to happen and that kind of scared me.  But I am so glad that I decided to stick with it.  Jacob is a 16 year old boy who just recently lost one of his best friends....his grandfather.  So in honor of his grandfather, and to cope with his death, Jacob and his father go to an island off the coast of Whales where his grandfather spent some time at.  There he decides that he is going to travel to a house.  See this house took place in a lot of stories that his grandfather told him as a child.  He always that they were fake stories but he is in for a rude awakening.  There Jacob lives a story that his grandfather lived many years before.  Jacob has to decide if he is going to live in this time or in the past.....

I really liked the book a lot.  It was a very strange yet amazing book all tied into one.  The pictures really give this book something.  I am not totally for sure what it gives it but I can tell you this...the pictures make the book about 100 times better.  I loved how every picture tied into the story and tied in with the characters.  I think that it really helped the story.

My Rating:

I am giving the book 4 out 5 stars.  The book was very well written.  It is defiantly a book that I am glad that I bought.  I think that book is amazing just the way it is.  It should not be changed!
