Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Hello my friends...It is time for another Waiting on Wednesday.  Waiting on Wednesday is weekly meme that is here so you can tell your followers about the books that you are waiting for.

This week I cant wait for a book that is by a man that wrote one of the best things that I have read.

The Future of Us by: Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler

It's 1996, and less than half of all American high school students have ever used the Internet.

Emma just got her first computer and an America Online CD-ROM.

Josh is her best friend. They power up and log on--and discover themselves on Facebook, fifteen years in the future.

Everybody wonders what their Destiny will be. Josh and Emma are about to find out. -Goodreads-

I loved Jay Asher's book 13 Reasons Why.  It was probably one of the best books that I have read in a really long time. Here is my review. I hope you enjoy!

In a world of pure imagination

[Finn:]
Take a look and you'll see
Into your imagination

[Tina:]
We'll begin, with a spin
Traveling in a world of my creation

[Artie:]
What we'll see will defy explanation

[Tina with New Directions:]
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Want to change the world?
There's nothing to it

There is no life I know
To compare with pure imagination

Living there, you'll be free

If you truly wish to be

Guest post: The Help

Hello Followers! Today I am doing something that I have never done before….I have a guest doing a book review! Not only is this just a guest post…this is from my oldest sister! I hope you enjoy!!

The Help
By: Kathryn Stockett
Publisher: Berkley
Pages: 464
Source: ebook, bought for enjoyment!!

Goodreads Synopsis:

Three ordinary women are about to take one extraordinary step.

Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy till Skeeter has a ring on her finger. Skeeter would normally find solace with her beloved maid Constantine, the woman who raised her, but Constantine has disappeared and no one will tell Skeeter where she has gone.

Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way. She is devoted to the little girl she looks after, though she knows both their hearts may be broken.

Minny, Aibileen's best friend, is short, fat, and perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi. She can cook like nobody's business, but she can't mind her tongue, so she's lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation. But her new boss has secrets of her own.

Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't. –Goodreads-

Tascha’s Thoughts:

I decided to read "The Help" because my one rule for my daughter is "if you want to see a movie that's based on a book, you have to read the book first!" The first time I seen the trailer for the movie I figured it was based on a book and I was right. I had quite a few people tell me they had read the book and "could NOT put it down!" I have to be honest; I was quite excited to start this new read!

The book takes place in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 60's, just before the civil rights movement is in full swing, when society was still segregated to the max. White families ran the towns and Colored Families worked for them. Raising their children, cleaning their houses, cooking their food, farming their land. This story digs deep into what it was like to be "the help" in those homes....the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.

I absolutely adored the main characters in this book. Skeeter, the young college grad, an aspiring writer, looking for change. Aibileen, career maid, who is fed up with the way her people are treated. Minnie, the strong willed but lovable maid who just cannot resist sassing her bosses. As different as these women are they work together secretly to write a book about all the drama the maids deal with working in these homes.I would have to say it takes a bit for the book to really get going, but once it does it is definitely worth getting through those first hundred pages. The Help made me laugh out loud and it made me cry, more than once.

I did not, however, enjoy the ending. There were many things brought to our attention in the middle of the story but never seemed to have any conclusion at the end. I wasn’t expecting a "happy ending" giving the issues the book was dealing with, but I did expect something other then what I got. It was as if the author was in a hurry to meet a deadline and just sent in what she had. I finished this book wondering if my kindle had not downloaded all of the chapters. Now after making sure it hadn't, I'm wondering if there will be a sequel. I doubt that will happen so ill keep my hopes up that the writers for the movie had plenty of time to prepare!!

Tascha’s Rating:

Overall, The Help was def worth reading and I will most likely read it again. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars!!!!

Thanks Tascha for being my first guest post! I hoped that you will many more to come!! :)

sorry for the video...:(

Jessie is a friend
Yeah, I know he’s been a good friend of mine
But lately something’s changed, it ain’t hard to define
Jessie’s got himself a girl and I want to make her mine
And she’s watching him with those eyes
And she’s lovin’ him with that body, I just know it
And he’s holding her in his arms late, late at night
You know, I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
Where can I find a woman like that
I play along with the charade
There doesn’t seem to be a reason to change
You know I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot
‘Cause she’s watching him with those eyes
And she’s lovin’ him with that body, I just know it
And he’s holding her in his arms late, late at night
You know, I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
Where can I find a woman like that
Like Jessie’s girl
I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
Where can I find a woman
Where can I find a woman like that
And I’m lookin’ in the mirror all the time
Wonderin’ what she don’t see in me
I’ve been funny, I’ve been cool with the lines
Ain’t that the way love’s supposed to be
Tell me, where can I find a woman like that
(guitar solo)
You know, I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
I want Jessie’s girl
Where can I find a woman like that
Like Jessie’s girl
I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
I want, I want Jessie’s girl
I wish that I had Jessie’s girl
I want, I want Jessie’s girl

Tune in Tuesday (10)

Hello friends!!!  It is time again for another edition of TUNE IN TUESDAY!!!  Tune in Tuesday is a weekly meme that allows you to show case some of the songs that you are really into at this time...

This is one of the hardest posts to do because I love music so much that is it really hard for me to do...But thanks to my sister she gave me a great idea of the song that I should use this week....

Lads.....

Adele...

"One And Only"

You've been on my mind
I grow fonder every day,
lose myself in time just thinking of your face
God only knows why it's taking me so long
to let my doubts go
You're the only one that I want

I don't know why I'm scared, I've been here before
Every feeling, every word, I've imagined it all,
You never know if you never try to forget your past
And simply be mine

I dare you to let me be your, your one and only
Promise I'm worth it to hold in your arms
So come on and give me the chance

To prove that I'm the one who can
Walk that mile
Until the end starts

Have I been on your mind?
You hang on every word I say, lose yourself in time
At the mention of my name, will I ever know
How it feels to hold you close
And have you tell me which ever road I chose you'll go

I don't know why I'm scared, I've been here before
Every feeling every word, I've imagined it all,
You never know if you never tried to forgive your past
And simply be mine

I dare you to let me be your, your one and only
I promise I'm worthy to hold in your arms
So come on and give me the chance

To prove that I'm the one who can
Walk that mile
Until the end starts

I know it ain't easy
Giving up your heart
I know it ain't easy
Giving up your heart

(Nobody's perfect, trust me I've earned it)
I know it ain't easy, giving up your heart
(Nobody's perfect, trust me I've earned it)
I know it ain't easy, giving up your heart

I know it ain't easy
Giving up your heart

I dare you to let me be your, your one and only
I promise I'm worth it to hold in your arms
So come on and give me the chance

To prove I'm the one who can
Walk that mile until the end starts
Come and give me the chance
To prove that I'm the one who can
Walk that mile until the end starts.

It's not summer without you

It's not summer without you
By: Jenny Han
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Pages: 304
Source: Borrowed a book from a friend

Goodreads Synopsis:

Can summer be truly summer without Cousins Beach?

It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started--at Cousins Beach. -Goodreads-

My Thoughts:

When I first read The summer I turned pretty I thought it was a pretty decent book.  It would be a series I wanted to finish, but I did not have to go and buy them right here right now.  But now I have read the second book.  And oh my lord was it amazing!  I have had a really busy week at work and I just had no time to read until now.  I started the book last night and I just could not put it down.  I went to bed with like 100 pages to go and I regretted it 100%.

In the last book you meet Belly and Conrad.  Belly wants Conrad....bad.  But it seems like he wants nothing to do with her.  Well in this book, he wants something to do with her.  You really feel for the characters in their time of need.  They need to be with each other.  They need each other to cope.

Belly is still her normal bratty self but you really love her as a character.  You want things to work out between her and Conrad....but someone else is now in the picture....Jeremiah...what to do what to do...

I can not wait to start book 3.  It was such a great book.  It was well written and just a very great read.  I really don't know what to expect with the next book.  It could go a hundred million directions.  I'm really hoping that Jenny Han ends the book like I want it to end...lol

My Rating:

I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars.  Everyone should really go and read these books.

Hunted

Hunted
By: DJ DeSmyter
Publisher: Pendrell Publishing
Pages: 257
Source: Bought the book for review

Goodreads Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Lily Atwater has always kept to herself, living a lonely life with her workaholic dad. Not the most thrilling life, but it’s quiet and ordinary, two things she’s come to expect from living in Victor Hills, Michigan.

When kind and mysterious Alex takes refuge in her home, she is suddenly thrown into his world of werewolves, a world he wants to keep her safe from. But while the two of them grow closer, a relentless hunter continues his search, stalking the woods with hopes of catching the wolf that got away…-Goodreads-

My Thoughts:

In this book you meet Alex first.  To me Alex seems very mysterious and he likes to keep to himself.  I actually love this about him.  Alex is the type of guy that you are friends with but secretly want to be with.  Believe me...I know this feeling.  After you meet Alex, you meet Lily.  Lily is an artist that loves to paint and take pictures.  With this she is 100% like me!!!  She would rather be lost in a book then sitting on the phone chatting away...  Lily and Alex are brought together in this story because Lily's life is very different then our normal lives...See Lily knows a secret that no one else knows...  Do you want to know what the secret is.....Then go read the book!!!

Alex is my favorite!  I would find myself loving the chapters that would be from his point of view.  Don't get me wrong, Lily is pretty bad ass too but...Alex...<3  He is just amazing!  He would do anything for Lily and he just wants to protect her.  Because he really loves her...:)

I really love this book.  It was so good from beginning to end.  I really hated to put it down.  I found myself turning page after page just to know what happens between Alex and Lily.  Plus I love the twist the DJ DeSmyter does with the story...I mean come on...a genetic disorder!!! AMAZING, BRILLIANT!!!

Please go buy this book and read it, you won't regret it!

My Rating:

I gave this book 4 out 5 stars.  I think that you want a true love story with a twist go and pick up this book....you won't be sorry!!

Oh and PS:  DJ if you read this....YOU MUST WRITE A SEQUEL TO THIS STORY....it could be my birthday gift....pleassssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeee!!!!  I have to know more about Alex!!!!

GLEE SONG OF THE WEEK!! (10)

Hello all gleeks....It is time again for another GLEE SONG OF THE WEEK!!

So this week I didn't really listen to a lot of Glee because I have been extremely busy!!!! :(  But today when I put on my glee playlist and this song came on it made me very happy!!

Gleeks....

Firework!!

(sorry for the really crappy video:( )

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting throught the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that tehre's still a chance for you
Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on slet your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on slet your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gunna leave 'em goin "Oh, oh, oh!"

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

Enjoy :)

Tune in Tuesday (9)

Hello fellow bloggers is it time again....
For Tune in Tuesday!  Tune in Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReads!  It allows you to showcase the music that you are into at the moment.

This week I decided that I was going to a song from a band that I really don't know.  A band that I rarely know.

Ladies and Gents...

Skillet!!!

I'm just a step away
I'm just a breath away
Losin' my faith today
(Fallin' off the edge today)

I am just a man
Not superhuman
(I'm not superhuman)
Someone save me from the hate

It's just another war
Just another family torn
(Falling from my faith today)
Just a step from the edge
Just another day in the world we live

[Chorus:]
I need a hero to save me now
I need a hero (save me now)
I need a hero to save my life
A hero'll save me (just in time)

I've gotta fight today
To live another day
Speakin' my mind today
(My voice will be heard today)

I've gotta make a stand
But I am just a man
(I'm not superhuman)
My voice will be heard today

It's just another war
Just another family torn
(My voice will be heard today)
It's just another kill
The countdown begins to destroy ourselves

[Chorus]

I need a hero to save my life
I need a hero just in time
Save me just in time
Save me just in time

Who's gonna fight for what's right
Who's gonna help us survive
We're in the fight of our lives
(And we're not ready to die)

Who's gonna fight for the weak
Who's gonna make 'em believe
I've got a hero (I've got a hero)
Livin' in me

I'm gonna fight for what's right
Today I'm speaking my mind
And if it kills me tonight
(I will be ready to die)

A hero's not afraid to give his life
A hero's gonna save me just in time

[Chorus]

I need a hero
Who's gonna fight for what's right
Who's gonna help us survive

I need a hero
Who's gonna fight for the weak
Who's gonna make 'em believe
I need a hero
I need a hero

A hero's gonna save me just in time

Enjoy :)

If anything on his computer is vulnerable to a hack, what happens when his mind is linked to the system? Could consciousness itself be hijacked? Before he realizes what’s happened, Sam’s incursion against the world’s largest telecommunications company leads him to the heart of the nation’s cyberdefense network and brings him face to face with a terrifying and unforeseen threat.

Brian Falkner, author of The Tomorrow Code, has created an action-packed and thought-provoking science fiction adventure in which a brilliant young computer hacker fights to prevent the human race from being deleted.

Fans of Cory Doctorow’s Little Brother and M. T. Anderson’s Feed will love this high-octane techno thriller. -Goodreads-

Gone

Gone
By: Lisa McMann
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages: 214
Source: Bought the book for review

Goodreads Synopsis:

Janie thought she knew what her future held. And she thought she’d made her peace with it. But she can’t handle dragging Cabel down with her.

She knows he will stay with her, despite what she sees in his dreams. He’s amazing. And she’s a train wreck. Janie sees only one way to give him the life he deserves: She has to disappear. And it’s going to kill them both.

Then a stranger enters her life — and everything unravels. The future Janie once faced now has an ominous twist, and her choices are more dire than she’d ever thought possible. She alone must decide between the lesser of two evils. And time is running out. . . .

My Thoughts:

So where to begin....lets start about how this touched on so many great points.  There are things that happened this book that happens in everyday life and some people really don't know how to deal with it.  I thought that it was so awesome that she talked about problems that Janie's parents had.  You really felt what Janie was felling.  Janie finds out more about her condition that she never thought could happen.  But I am glad that she receive all the information that she needed to make her decision.  Janie is a really strong person.  She has to be to be able to deal with the life she lives.  I wish that girls now a days would be half as strong as Janie is.

This series is probably one of the best series that I have ever read.  I believe that Lisa McMann ended the series the best way that she possibly could.  All three books just flowed so well together.  I heard many great things about these books I and never gave them a chance...until now.  I am so happy that I gave it chance because if not I would be missing something spectacular.

My Rating:

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars!  I literally could not put these books down.  And any book that does that deserve 5 out of 5 stars.

It was just plain spectacular!!!!

Fade

Fade
By: Lisa McMann
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages: 248
Source: Bought the book for review

Goodreads Synopsis:

For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They're just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck.

Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody's talking. When Janie taps into a classmate's violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open -- but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie's in way over her head, and Cabe's shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both.

Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability -- and it's bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what's to come is way darker than she'd feared....

My Thoughts:

Where do I even begin with this book. In the first book you meet Janie. Janie is not the most popular, the richest, or even the best looking girl in school. But she sure is different than everyone else. See Janie has a gift. A special gift. A gift that no one else she knows has. Do you want to know what the gift is....well....read the book. You really should. The first book was good, really good. But book 2 was AMAZING!!! I really don't even know where to begin to tell you how much I loved this book. Janie is secretly dating a guy from her school. I bet you are wondering why they are secretly dating....see they work together and right now in there line of work they can't be seen with each other. Which is okay for them because that means that they can just spend some more one on one alone time.

In this story Janie is given an assignment to help catch a predator. She is really trying her hardest to catch the person that they are looking for. But with helping them catch the predator means that her relationship with Cabel starts to go down the drain. Will Cabel and Janie work things out? Or is Janie going to spend the rest of her time alone....

To find out you need to get off your butt and go get this series...you won't regret it!!!

My Rating:

I gave this book 5 out 5 stars. It was so good that I really could read it again and again! And I think that I might!
