Goodreads Synopsis:

Lucy Whitley cannot wait to get out of Palm Desert. It’s not a place for a frizzy-haired science nerd, particularly when her fashion-obsessed older sister Sloane is the head of a clique of pretty girls who rule the school—and practically the whole town.Fortunately, life is about to change forever. Lucy’s dad is getting re-married, and then she can transfer to a boarding school in Connecticut, escaping all the mean girls and the endless whispers about the Whitley family scandal. Everything is going to be perfect—as long as the wedding goes smoothly. –Goodreads-

My Thoughts:

When I think of snobby rich kids, I think of this family.  You have one that has it all, you have one that is just there, and you have one that is funny.  This is usually how it goes.  And I am really glad that this book stayed with the normal take on a rich family.  It kept the book interesting.

You meet Lucy.  Lucy is about to have it all! The mom that she never had, the school that she always wanted, and the vacation of a life time!!!  But that is all about to be ruined because her long lost sister just walked in the door at her father’s second wedding claiming that his wife is still alive.  I don’t know how I would feel about this.  I mean if the love of my life ran away and never came back and then sent my long lost daughter walks in the door, I think I might be a little more then upset…. is he…. NO!!  He wants to pick up where they left off.  He makes the family go on vacation hiking instead of a family vacation in Paris! And that is where it really starts to go down hill.

I think Lori did such a great job telling a story that kept me wanting more.  I loved every minute of this story.  I felt like the characters grew along with the story.  When that happens, it really makes a story great! It was everything I expected and more!!!

My Rating:

I am giving this book a 4 out 5 stars!

Monument 14

By: Emmy Laybourne

Publisher: Feiwel and Friends

Release Date: June 5, 2012

Source: ARC from Publisher (Thank you :))

Goodreads Synopsis:

Your mother hollers that you’re going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don’t stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don’t thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not—you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner.
Only, if it’s the last time you’ll ever see your mother, you sort of start to wish you’d stopped and did those things. Maybe even missed the bus.
But the bus was barreling down our street, so I ran.
Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong.
In Emmy Laybourne’s action-packed debut novel, six high school kids (some popular, some not), two eighth graders (one a tech genius), and six little kids trapped together in a chain superstore build a refuge for themselves inside. While outside, a series of escalating disasters, beginning with a monster hailstorm and ending with a chemical weapons spill, seems to be tearing the world—as they know it—apart.             –

My Thoughts:

Imagine yourself on your way to school, and the world starts to end.  You run to seek shelter and the nearest thing is a superstore.  So you run into there and now you are trapped.  You have no where to go.  But you can survive for months there, would  you leave.  That is the question that I asked myself while reading this book.  If I had no worries in the world other than am I going to survive through the night, would I leave the one place that provides me with food, water, and shelter????  Probably not.  But that was not the case in this story.

In this story, you meet a group of kids that are on their way to school in the bus.  While on the bus a hail storm starts to happen.  I know what you are thinking, come on its just a hail storm.  But in this story, this hail storm is really bad and they can’t drive in it.  So one of the buses decides to run into the local superstore for cover.  But then after a little while the bus driver goes back to save the people on the other bus.  Once everyone was in the building, the driver decides that she is going to try and get help.  So she leaves.  At this point in the book, I was like really….you are just going to leave 14 kids all by themselves so that you can see if you can find help.  I knew where this was going.  At this point, the story reminded a lot of Lord of the Flies.  I was just waiting for them to split into their own teams and try to kill each other.  But boy was I wrong.  This book  was so much better then I thought it was going to be.  I was really surprised with what the out come was in this book.  But I would have to tell you, if I was ever stuck in a place like Target for a really long time I think I might be in heaven. :)

This book has everything that I good dystopian needs. In my world, a good dystopian needs a great story line. A story that keeps you wanting more. A story line that keeps the pages turning. And Emmy Laybourne did just that!!! I seriously can’t wait for the second book to come out! I am not going to lie, when I finished this book I was like, “ YOU REALLY CAN NOT END A BOOK LIKE THAT!!!”  I think I threw the book across the room and cursed a little….oops… But a book that makes you do that deserves to be titled a great book and that is exactly what it is!!!!

My Rating:

I am giving this book 5 out 5 stars!!  It is that good, that you need to read it now!!!  Go! Leave! What just go to amazon!!! Here let me help you: http://www.amazon.com/Monument-14-ebook/dp/B00779RMJY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1341799441&sr=8-3&keywords=monument+14

Seraphina Book Trailer!!

So as my duty of being a Ambuzzador, which I love, I am going to tell you more about this awesome book that I am reading right now!!!

Seraphina By: Rachel Hartman!!!

Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high.
Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered—in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.
In her exquisitely written fantasy debut, Rachel Hartman creates a rich, complex, and utterly original world. Seraphina's tortuous journey to self-acceptance is one readers will remember long after they've turned the final page. –Goodreads-

I <3 this!!!

And now for the trailer… enjoy!

Friday, July 6th - Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity?  Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

There are a lot of books that I read that are my comfort books.  I guess it is not really a certain book versus a certain genre.  If I am down and I need a book to bring a smile on my face, I always go.  I always go and pick up a contemporary.  These books are the books that help bring me out of a slump and bring a smile on my face.

Some of the my go to kind of books are:

its not summer without youaudrey waitpretty amy

the selectionunbreak my heart

Just to name a few… :)

These books bring back to a time when things were a lot simpler.  A time when you just wanted him to look at you.  Or you just wanted life to go by so you could live your life.  This is why these books are amazing and keep you wanting more.

Well have a great Friday and a great weekend!!!
