Divergent By: Veronica Roth

Divergent

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance. -Goodreads-

First of all I want to say  Veronica Roth, you are amazing!  I loved when I went and saw you in Michigan for the Dark Days Tour and I LOVED your book.  I am going to say that Divergent is now my favorite book of all time.  I loved all the characters.  Tris is amazing.  She is everything that a 16 year old girl should be in a dystopian world.  She is carrying the world on her shoulders so she needs to be a bad ass.

OH MY GOD Four.  I think every girl in the world needs a guy like Four.  He is there for her, to protect her and to love her.  I first fell in love with Four when Tris could tell that he was looking at her in a different way.  Not as a trainer but as something else.  I know this feeling, I had this feeling with my Hubby!!! It is amazing.

I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone! If you want to see how the world would be if your government was one of 4 factions in the world then you need to read this!!!!

AMAZING Veronica Roth AMAZING!!

In my mailbox (3)

Well this week has been a very interesting week!  A lot has happened both at work and at home.  On Tuesday my father in law was in his garden when he backed up and accidentally stepped on his cat's tail.  His cat in returned bit him.  His leg never healed the right way and after many trips to the doctor, his doctor finally told him to go to the ER and have them check for blood clots.  This got very scary.  They admitted him and he has been there since.  He is getting better day by day and his wounds are even looking better.  A wound specialist comes in every day and helps clean and drain the wounds.  We are hoping that he will return home in the next couple days.  Well on with In My Mailbox! In my Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren!

Some of the books I have had that I have forgotten about, ( thanks Jenn for going through my books:)) and some are one that I just recently bought.

The Reapers are the Angels
By: Alden Bell

For twenty-five years, civilization has survived in meager enclaves, guarded against a plague of the dead. Temple wanders this blighted landscape, keeping to herself and keeping her demons inside her heart. She can't remember a time before the zombies, but she does remember an old man who took her in and the younger brother she cared for until the tragedy that set her on a personal journey toward redemption. Moving back and forth between the insulated remnants of society and the brutal frontier beyond, Temple must decide where ultimately to make a home and find the salvation she seeks.

I am really excited to get my nose into this book!  The more I read about this book and the more I read on the back of the book makes me want to read it now! :)

By: Antony John

The Challenge: Piper has one month to get the rock band Dumb a paying gig.
The Deal: If she does it, Piper will become the band's manager and get her share of the profits.
The Catch: How can Piper possibly manage one egomaniacal pretty boy, one talentless piece of eye candy, one crush, one silent rocker, and one angry girl? And how can she do it when she's deaf?
Piper can't hear Dumb's music, but with growing self-confidence, a budding romance, and a new understanding of the decision her family made to buy a cochlear implant for her deaf baby sister, she discovers her own inner rock star and what it truly means to be a flavor of Dumb. -Goodreads-

I bought this book a while back ago and I totally forgot about, even though every time Lynn saw it she reminded me I bought the book! LOL

The Iron King
By: Julie Kagawa

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

I have heard really good things about this series!  I couldn't pass it up when it was on sale!

this lullaby
By: Sarah Dessen

When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn't mess around. After all, she's learned all there is to know from her mother, who's currently working on husband number five. But there's something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy's rules. He certainly doesn't seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can't seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy's starting to understand what those love songs are all about? -Goodreads-

This was a super steal and I am happy to get my nose into this!

Well that is it.  I am hoping that I will be able to do some reviews this week but with my father in law in the hospital I really don't know if I will have time.  But I am hoping!

:) Enjoy

Vampire Kisses

Vampire Kisses the Beginning
By: Ellen Schreiber
Publishers: Katherine Tegen Books
Pages: 562
Source: I bought this book

The Mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years. Bit one day it seems to be occupied, and it mysterious, handsome inhabitant Alexander Sterling becomes the source of much talk around town.  Raven, a vampire-obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in “Dullsville” is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander.  As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies, Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations.  Can Alexander make her lifelong dream come true? But love always has its complications-especially when it can only be awakened at nightfall.

This is a collection book of the first three books in the series.  I am almost positive that there are now eight books in the series.  I just recently went to a book signing in Lansing Michigan and Ellen Schreiber was there!  She was amazing, fun-loving, and all in all a great person.  I went into the signing only reading book one and most of book two.  I was hoping that she was not going to give much away and she didn’t.  In this book you meet Raven.  She is a very Goth girl living in a very non Goth town.  Her parents are part of the local country club and they play tennis….a lot.  She likes to be different.  She tries so hard just to live her life the way she wants.
Well in the book you find out that Raven meets this boy who is thinks is a vampire…well more like she hopes she is a vampire.  But she is also very in love with him.  They go through many ups and downs in a relationship.     In the First book of the series, Vampire Kisses, you basically just find out who Raven is and what is into.  She meets the mysterious Alexander.  He is the boy next door that not everyone wants next door.  But Raven wants him next door.  She would probably prefer him in her room but oh well.  J
In the second book Alexander leaves Raven and she has to go and find him.  She decides to look in the town not too far away called Hipsterville.  Her aunt lives there so she decides to go there for spring break to visit and hang out.   But while she is there she not only finds out that this is where Alexander is but also where another vampire is living.  His name is Jagger, and he wants to get back at Alexander for not being truthful.
In the third and last book in this book you find out that not only is Jagger there to make Alexander and Raven’s lives miserable but she has a twin sister named Luna.  She you find out that Alexander and Jagger were born vampires.  Meaning their parents were vampires and they had baby vampires.  And Luna was born a human.  And all she wants is to be a Vampire and she will stop at nothing to become a vampire.
I really liked these books.  I thought they were well written and well put together.  Ellen is a great author and I really can’t wait to get my hands on the other books of the series.

Enjoy J

GLEE SONG OF THE WEEK!!

So I just watched the best thing ever!! Lynn just did a post for her tune in Tuesday that was based on the greatest TV show ever....GLEE!  And this got me thinking....I should do that....I should make a weekly post just dedicated just to the songs that glee has done!!!  I know genius right...any way this is the first post for the GLEE SONG OF THE WEEK....I need to work on the title...

So the first song that I want to talk about is when Glee redid Friday by Rebbecca Black!

ps sorry for the really crappy video :(

We really need to talk about how amazing this song is! Everyone makes fun of it....okay so do I.  I hated the song until Glee covered the song.  I remember sitting on my couch watching the episode and this amazing song came on....I instantly jumped up and call Lynn.  See every Friday I would send a little of the song to her and a bunch of other people to remind them that it is Friday and that we so excited!  (as much as Lynn said that she hated it deep down she secretly loved it:)) I think the guys did a great job on the cover and they are in need of some credit for it. So I hope that you all love the song as much as I do...I know you won't but hey its worth a try!

In My Mailbox (2) and Dark Days signing!!

So this past weekend I went to the best thing since sliced bread....THE DARK DAYS OF SUPERNATURAL TOUR in Lansing Michigan.  This was my first time and I meet a lot of great people.  I am so happy that I was able to go and I can not wait until the next signing that I will be able to go to. :)

Any who on with the show!!

IMG110.jpg

While I was at he signing I got some really AMAZING deals and meet some really AMAZING authors!

The authors that were on the tour were

Veronica Roth- Divergent

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five fractions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue- Candor (the Honest), Abnegation (the Selfless), Dauntless ( the brave), Amity (the Peaceful), and Erudite ( the Intelligent).  On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives.  For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is- she can't have both.  So she makes a choice that surprises everyone including herself.

I am really excited about this book!  I actually already started this book and I can't put it down!  It was really hard to stop to be able to do this post.

Aprilynn Pike- Spells

She was actually on tour for her other book Illusions but I bought spells while I was there because that is the book that I am on. :)

Although Laurel has come to accept her true identity as a faerie, she refuses to turn her back on her human life- and especially her boyfriend, David- to return to the faerie world.  But when she is summoned to Avalon, Laurel's feelings for the charismatic faerie sentry Tamani are undeniable.  She is forced to make a choice- a choice that could break her heart.

I loved Wings! I read that book in like 15 hours and every part was amazing! She was such a great person to meet and talked too.  I can't wait to get my hands on this book and start reading it!

Josephine Angelini- Starcrossed

Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

This book looks amazing! The way she described this book just makes me want to start it right now! :)

Ellen Schreiber- Vampire Kisses the Beginning

The mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years.  But one day it seems to be occupied, and its mysterious, handsome in habitant Alexander Sterling becomes the source of much talk around town.  Raven, a vampire-obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in "Dullsville" is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander.  As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies.  Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations.

This book actually has the first three books in it and I have finished the first 2.  And they were both fantastic!

I also got my hands on The Goddess Test  By: Aimee Carter, which I met her and got my book signed :)!

It's always been just Kate and her mom- and her mother is dying.  Her last wish?  To move back to her childhood home.  So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.  Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing.  He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld- and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.  Kate is sure he's crazy- until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead.  Now saving her mother seems crazily possible.  If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.  If she fails......

The reviews I have read about this book makes me think this book is amazing! I am going to keep this book near by.

Melissa De La Cuz- The Van Alen Legacy

With the stunning revelation surrounding Bliss's true identity comes the growing threat of the sinister Silver Bloods. Once left to live the glamorous life in New York City, the Blue Bloods now find themselves in an epic battle for survival. Not to worry, love is still in the air for the young vampires of the Upper East Side. Or is it? Jack and Schuyler are over. Oliver's brokenhearted. And only the cunning Mimi seems to be happily engaged.

Claudia Gray- Stargazer

Evernight Academy: an exclusive boarding school for the most beautiful, dangerous students of all—vampires. Bianca, born to two vampires, has always been told her destiny is to become one of them.
But Bianca fell in love with Lucas—a vampire hunter sworn to destroy her kind. They were torn apart when his true identity was revealed, forcing him to flee the school.
Although they may be separated, Bianca and Lucas will not give each other up. She will risk anything for the chance to see him again, even if it means coming face-to-face with the vampire hunters of Black Cross—or deceiving the powerful vampires of Evernight. Bianca's secrets will force her to live a life of lies.
Yet Bianca isn't the only one keeping secrets. When Evernight is attacked by an evil force that seems to target her, she discovers the truth she thought she knew is only the beginning....-Goodreads

All the books that I got I really can't wait to dig into!  The really question is....where to start?

Wings By: Aprilynne Pike

Wings
By:
Aprilynne Pike

First I am going to tell you how sorry I am that I did not do a post all week!  I have been extremely busy with work and I just got caught up....it wont happen again....

I'm not going to lie.  I bought this book because I went to a book signing that was AMAZING!!!! I had the best time ever.  I went into it not knowing what to expect.  I was so nervous for like a week before but once I got there everything was fine.  :)

So this book is about a girl named Laurel who has been home schooled all her life and her family moves her to a new town and they decide that it is time for her to go to school.  She starts her freshman year at the local high school.  There she meets a boy named David.  They become really close friends and later a love interest. One day Laurel wakes up with this whole bump on her back and she doesn't know what is or what it will become.  She is afraid to ask her mother because they don't believe in doctors.  So she just keeps it to herself, hoping that it will just go away.  Well it doesn't.  It just keeps growing and growing until it become a flower.  Now she starts to freak out a little.  She decides to tell her friend David who seems to be very understanding and is wanting to help her.

She the meets another man named Tamani who tells her that she is a born faerie and she was sent to live with humans so that the faeries can stay on their land.  He also tells her that her flower will go away soon and that there are reasons that she was sent to live the life she is living.

This books has it all.  A love interest, a Battle scene, a secret, and history of the faerie world.  I personally loved the story about the different season faeries and how they all play a role in the faerie world.  I can't not wait to finish this series!

Oh yeah and when I went to the book signing....Aprilynn Pike was there! And she signed my copies of Wings and Spells!!! eeks!!!

Any who again sorry about the really late post.

:)
